AFTER some residents experienced more than 24 hours without water, South West Water has confirmed that the ‘vast majority’ of local customers have had their supply fully restored.

Overnight on March 3, a large number of homes and businesses in Launceston saw their water supply become incredibly weak, or turn off all together. It came after their was damage to a water main which was ‘damaged by a third party’ in Trebartha.

Since then, the organisation says it has been working to restore the supply and has even established bottled water stations in the town.

This morning (March 4), South West Water has stated that ‘the vast majority of customers in Launceston, Tregadillett and the surrounding areas now have their water supply fully restored.’

A spokesperson from the water supplier said: “A small number of customers may still be experiencing low pressure or a temporary loss of supply, but this is normal following this type of situation due to trapped air in the pipes. We would like to reassure our customers that this is only temporary and does not affect water quality. We will continue to keep customers updated."

Two bottled water stations are continuing to operate in the local area today. Residents are able to collect supplies from the following locations:

  • Martins Cash and Carry Site, Pennygillam Way, Launceston, PL15 7ED
