ACCESS to a life saving defibrillator in a North Cornwall village is once again close at hand thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.
The un-named benefactor has paid for the cost of rental of a new defibrillator to be sited at the St Teath Community Shop while replacement parts are sourced for their own equipment.
A spokesperson for the community shop said that in combination with the work of the community coming together to keep the vital life saving resource available, it was grateful to two community members for their conscientious work to ensure the equipment is kept in a good working order.
The spokesperson for St Tudy Community Shop said: “We are delighted to announce that our village has defibrillator cover again! This has been a great concern to the shop, and we're thrilled to share this update.
“(We) want to publicly thank a very generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous, who has kindly paid the cost of rental for a three-month period to cover our community whilst we await a new battery for our device. This incredible act of generosity means we can continue to have life-saving equipment available when we need it most.
“The circuit has now been updated and St Tudy's defibrillator is rescue ready! The defibrillator we are renting is the same make but a slightly different model.
“A huge thank you to Justin Borlase for being so conscientious with regularly checking that our equipment is in working order and ready in case of an emergency. Justin and his friend Chris are going to continue to share this important responsibility. Every time we check the equipment, it is logged on the BHF circuit website.
“It's wonderful to see our community coming together to ensure we have this vital resource available. Thank you to everyone involved!”
