ST MINVER faced what appeared a difficult away game at Edgcumbe as they looked to enhance their Premier Division title challenge. On the day it turned into a miss-match with St Minver in very good form and winning 8-0. Ryan Pooley scored a tenth minute penalty after Robbie Green had been fouled in the box and a second challenge on Green seven minutes later led to Pooley getting a second from the spot. St Minver added a third on the cusp of half time through Ted Meagor to stamp their dominance on the scoreline. Mike Kempthorne set up Paul Menhinick two minutes after the break for the fourth and just two minutes later Menhinick returned the favour for Kempthorne to score. Green scored a fine goal for the visitors sixth and there was just 65 minutes gone when a fine team move ended with Steve Wootton extending the lead. Christian Cleave at the back post added the eighth five minutes from time.

Leaders LC Phoenix felt the full force of the top division as St Stephen arrived for a vital title clash with the visitors leaving with a stunning 7-1 victory as they warmed up for their Junior Cup semi-final in midweek. Once again it was Craig Coad with a hat-trick and Courtney Rowe with a brace that did the damage. Will Watson and Jack Mingo completed the visitors’ tally with Nathan Cox getting the home consolation.

Saltash United saw their title aspirations destroyed by a 5-2 home defeat by Biscovey. Rory Barnicle hit a hat-trick with Charlie Appleby and Kieran Powell completing the visitors’ tally. Saltash replied through Tom Hall and Ben Holter.

Torpoint Athletic beat Foxhole 2-1. This was a skilful game of end-to-end football played before a healthy attendance. Lee Reed-Bennett lobbed the keeper from 15-yards to give the visitors a 28th minute lead. Joe Knight equalised with a rasping 30-yard drive and the home side struck the winner twelve minutes from time through Ben Applegate.

The bottom two fought out a fairly even battle with Pelynt beating Callington Town 4-3. Sam Richards scored a brace with Tom Davies and Dan Brazier adding a goal apiece for the hosts. Callington replied through Kev Pethick, Jason Kinsman and Nathan Behennah.

Division One leaders Veryan won 5-2 at Altarnun to steady the ship at the top after some recent wobbles. Martin O’Callaghan, Derrick Lucas, Justin Trebilcock, Dan Vincent and Alex Pearce scored for Veryan with Nick Oldaker and Nathan Godby replying for Altarnun.

Gerrans & St Mawes United had a fine 3-2 win at second-placed St Mawgan to confirm their promotion aspirations are still alive. Rory Jarvis scored a brace with Sam Bullen adding the other GSM goal. St Mawgan replied through James Olsen and Alex Coles.

Sticker were 3-1 winners at St Columb Major a result that leaves the hosts just above the relegation zone. Sticker were ahead after six minutes when a neat ball was threaded through to Jack Boardman whose shot went in off a post. The visitors continued to have more of the play especially when going forward but with a number of missed chances the half looked as if it would end with a single score. However with just a couple of minutes left, Matt Searle sent a neat ball forward to find Zach Smith-Brokenshire who deftly rounded the keeper for number two. The second-half continued in a similar pattern with Sticker again having little luck in front of goal. On 50 minutes St Columb pulled a goal back when Craig Allen picked a ball up inside his own half, went on a long run beating a number of players before hitting the target. The visitors’ persistence finally paid off on 65 minutes when Connor Paine lobbed the goalkeeper for number three, which secured a maximum points return.

Holywell/Cubert Athletic and St Dominick picked up a point apiece from a 3-3 draw to claim a point in their respective battles against relegation. Peter Bruce, Ash Williams and Simon Holmes were the home scorers.

Godolphin Atlantic are on the verge of the Division Two title after a 6-2 victory at Tregrehan Mills. Ben Colquhoun headed Godolphin into a tenth minute lead from a good cross. Mills gradually grew into the game and levelled when Lewis Husband beat three players to score a fantastic solo goal. One all at the break, but ten minutes later it was 1-4 with Colquhoun scoring all the goals. Lee Budge increased the Godolphin lead before Husband scored his second in the 70th minute. Godolphin brought on young winger Jacob Grange as substitute and he scored the final goal of a comprehensive and championship class win.

St Merryn beat Queens Rangers 4-2 in a pulsating full-blooded clash with the final result only decided by a last minute second goal for St Merryn’s Mick Shearer. There was little between the sides but St Merryn probably just shaded the game. Kev Allen and an own goal together with Shearer’s first had them hanging on to a 3-2 lead going into the last minute. Rangers replied with two Jordan Friendship goals.

St Cleer won 6-0 at Mevagissey with Charlie Coates and Ronan Moran getting a hat-trick apiece.

North Hill suffered a setback when beaten 2-1 at home by St Newlyn East. Ross London and Martyn Probert scored for Newlyn with Paul Waring replying for the hosts.

Lifton jumped off the bottom and kept their hopes alive of escaping relegation as Tom Hancock scored five times in a 6-2 defeat of Tintagel. Jake Rich was the other home scorer.

High Street moved closer to safety in Division Three after a superb 1-0 victory over promotion chasing Saltash United reserves. The hosts scored in the opening twenty minutes through Stuart Kesson-Smith. Play was quite even until the last 20 minutes when High Street withstood heavy pressure to hold on to the crucial points.

Lanivet Inn closed on the top two after twice coming from behind to beat Grampound reserves 6-2. Lanivet were dominant but it was Grampound that scored first after the home keeper’s clearance struck Ryan Orchard and was returned to the net. Spencer Harthill equalised with a shot from outside the area but another defensive error let Orchard restore the visitors lead. It took another long-range strike from Jake Pearce to restore parity. In the second-half the hosts’ quality finally showed. 16-year-old Harthill scored twice to complete a first hat-trick in men’s football, Pearce added his second and Grampound conceded an own goal.

Delabole United now sit comfortably safe after a good 3-2 win over Stoke Climsland. Kieran Barrett scored a brace with Martin Hallett getting the other home goal. Mark Toms was amongst the Stoke Climsland scorers.

In Division Four, St Stephen reserves took the lead through an own goal in the 44th minute in a tense battle with Rame Peninsula having had most of the early chances. Rame equalised in the 76th minute when Todd Hawnton scored from a corner but St Stephen won the game 2-1 when Reece Willmott slotted the ball home in the 85th minute after a great through ball from midfield. As much as Rame tried, St Stephen held on till the final whistle.

Foxhole reserves and Lanreath shared six goals. Jim Penhall hit a treble for Foxhole, but goals from Tom Rowe (2) and Matt Baker gave Lanreath a point.

Boscastle reserves picked up their first points of the season in Division Five as Martin Pethick and James Bosley scored in a 2-1 defeat of St Anns Chapel. Daryll Kearney was the visitors’ marksman.

Wadebridge Town beat Lostwithiel reserves 3-2. Ladislav Andrashazi, Jordan Stone and Ollie Bate scored for Wadebridge with Dean Boyle and Liam Rooney replying.

Two Craig Charnock goals gave Southgate Seniors a 2-1 win at Week St Mary. Aled Thomas scored the hosts goal.

Liskeard Athletic won 2-1 at Looe Town with Neil Mullis getting both their goals.
