A HOLSWORTHY lady has been left astonished by the amazing growth of her plant.
When Winnie Dunn was given an Amaryllis for her birthday in October, she never expected it to grow nearly as tall as her.
Winnie has had numerous plants before, but at almost four foot, it triumphantly tops the list.
"It is most unusual," she said. "It has come on leaps and bounds."
Since October the stem continued to grow, but failed to produce flowers, leading her to believe there wouldn't be any. But in the past month almost ten flowers have bloomed, considerably more than the usual amount of four/five.
She explained that an Amaryllis would have normally been dead and gone by now but it is still going strong and has five flowers.
When asked if she had looked after it any differently, Winnie told the 'Post' she watered it once a week along with the rest of her plants and it has remained in the same small pot. She has had to reinforce the stem with bamboo canes and ties.
People have visited Winnie and asked 'what is it?'.
"It has been a beauty and is ginormous," Winnie added.
