AFTER a long wait, the application for the installation of an ATM machine at the Co-operative Stores in Stanhope Square, Holsworthy, has been approved.

The proposal was received last August.

There were concerns voiced by the Senior Police Architectural Liaison Officer, John J Knowles, who asked whether appropriate standards had been introduced in order to combat skimming — pin number reading — or methods for deterring viewing pin numbers as they are inserted.

He was told that Cashzone do not possess the available software to install anti-skimming but precautions have been put in place, including a dome CCTV camera; privacy zone yellow box demarcations and external lighting above the shop front fascia.

The police responded that they had no objections to the application and appreciated the efforts made to address their concerns.

The decision was issued last week that the new ATM will be installed through the Co-operative’s glazed shop front to the left of the entrance doors.
