STAFF were left standing in the cold as a pharmacy in Launceston was evacuated following reports its AC unit was in danger of catching fire.
The Boots store in Launceston town centre was evacuated today (December 31) following concerns raised by a member of the public that the pharmacy’s AC unit was ‘overheating’.
Members of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are currently on scene and a cordon has been put in place.
An eyewitness, who was in the store at the time of the evacuation, told the Post: “A heating engineer was in the queue and said he could tell their AC unit was overheating from the smell. He offered to help but the manager decided it was safer to evacuate and call the fire brigade.”
The fire crew has lifted the cordon and left the scene.
