A PLAY park in Launceston has been transformed after being left for three years without equipment as a result of anti-social behaviour.

Back in June 2025, Launceston Town Council announced Priory Park was set for some much-needed renovations. In August 2024, residents were given the opportunity to have their say on the future of the local play park.

The council hosted the consultation after seeking to improve the site following the damage to some play equipment as a result of anti-social behaviour. Following the incidents, the park was left without any equipment since 2022.

Properties manager for Launceston Town Council, Martin Cornish told the Post: “In 2022, Launceston Town Council had to take the difficult decision to remove damaged play equipment from Priory Park due in part to anti-social behaviour.”

Now, more than three years on from the incident, the park finally has a new and improved look with some shiny, new equipment.

A spokesperson from Launceston Town Council said: “Launceston Town Council are pleased to announce that the works at Priory Park have now been completed, and the park is open.

“The equipment has been tested by the mayor, Cllr Gilbert and Cllr Gordon and they approved!”

With the new and improved park officially open to the public, the council is now planning a full open day for residents in the coming months.

The spokesperson continued: “The council are planning a full open day event on Tuesday, April 14, so please keep an eye on social media for more details in the new year.

“The council would like to thank the Proludic play team for all they have done, especially in such difficult weather conditions, and we look forward too seeing the park being used by the local residents and community!”
