KIVELLS of Holsworthy saw a massive entry of more than 400 store cattle sell to a top call of £,1385 for a well finished Charolais heifers from Ken and Richard Ford, of Bideford.

Messrs Davey, of Lifton, sold a fantastic run of 49 saler x cattle to top at £1,200 with plenty of cattle between £1,000 and £1,150.

Forty-one cull cows sold to a top of £697 with plenty of interest for grazing types topping at £650.

Fifty-two dairy cows saw a steady trade with Lanslade Dairy, of Brayford, topping at £1,450.

A hundred and three bales of wheat straw saw a very strong trade with two loads from David Fishleigh, of Langtree, at £26 p/bale with another load sold for Steve May, of Newton Tracey.

A total of 218 baby calves saw John Elliot, of Bradford, top at £445 with the best heifers from Nigel Cleave at £325. Numbers were tight in the pens with 551 prime hoggs selling to £97.20 for Colin Davey, of Hartland, with plenty well over £95.

A hundred and four cull ewes topped at £107 for C T Ruby, of Ashwater, and best rams at £93.50.
