HOLSWORTHY’S Leisure Centre has been temporarily closed due to a mechanical failure, and its doors could remain shut for six to eight weeks.

Leisure provider 1610 has been “forced” to close the pool but confirms that other areas of the facility will remain open and unaffected by this closure.

Announcing the news, a Torridge District Council spokesperson said: “Due to a mechanical failure 1610 have been forced to close the pool at Holsworthy. The indicative lead times for parts indicate these may take six to eight weeks to arrive.

“The centre remains open for other activities which are unaffected and will continue. Membership can also be used at other pools and further updates will be provided if ongoing endeavours are able to reduce the closure period.

“Along with 1610 we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”
