NEW pictures have shown the devastation caused by a fire at a popular Launceston pub.

In the early morning of Sunday, February 8, three fire crews were mobilised after receiving multiple 999 calls reporting a fire in the kitchen of a public house on Race Hill.

Launceston Community Fire Station, Callington Community Fire Station and Bodmin Community Fire Station all attended the blaze which broke out at the Newmarket Inn.

Following their arrival, crews managed to extinguish the fire with all residents managing to escape the premises unharmed.

New images released by Launceston Community Fire Station show the extent of the blaze, with the room completely painted by burn marks and ash.

A spokesperson for the crew said: “This just reiterates the importance of testing your smoke alarms regularly.”
