Cornwall Cricket League Division Four, Five, Six and Seven East round-up – Saturday, May 24

WERRINGTON Thirds kept up their unbeaten start to the season in Division Four with a five-wicket success at Tideford.

Youngsters Tyler Jasper (2-22) and Sam Uglow (3-23) reduced the hosts to 41-5 and although they recovered to post 130 all-out it was never likely to be enough. Paul Miller later took 3-24 with his off-spin.

Werrington were in a spot of bother at 51-3, but Miller’s 49 got them over the line in support with Dan Warring (18).

Launceston Seconds got their first win in Division Five as they eased past Grampound Road Thirds by six wickets.

The Davey brothers – Shane (2-27) and Tommy (2-25) – reduced the Road to 25-4 before they rallied somewhat to reach 132 all-out despite 4-30 from Indy Worth.

The chase was led by skipper Josh Theobald’s unbeaten 56 with support coming from Adil Raza (22) and Tommy Davey (18no).

Holsworthy Seconds’ tough season continued as they lost by 240 runs to Gorran.

Ben Hutchings (2-61) and Daniel Lucas (3-53) shared five wickets despite the visitors racking up 316-6.

Holsworthy were missing several and mustered 76 all-out in reply, nobody making more than Hutchings’ 19.

St Minver Seconds saw off Pencarrow by just six runs.

Charlie Edwards (53), Sam Hocking (43) and Matt Gilbert (42) saw them post a competitive 188-5 despite 2-26 from Tristan Jago.

Hocking (3-31) and Gilbert (4-46) then did much of the damage with the ball before Edwards took the final wicket with eight balls remaining.

Gunnislake were beaten by 97 runs by visiting Buckland Monachorum who posted 184-9.

Graham Murray (4-46) and Paul Hollow (3-54) shared seven wickets, but nobody could support Russ Holloway (46no) in the chase.

Bude Seconds are up to third in Division Six East as they eased past Werrington Fourths by 150 runs.

Matthew Whitefield (100no) reached his century off the final ball and opener Michael Taylor added 75 as the Seasiders posted 245-4 in a 38-over game. George Petherick took 3-44.

Werrington’s chase never got going as they slipped to 95 all-out.

Joe Gliddon claimed 4-25 from his 10 overs which was added to by Dan Petit (2-18) and Mike Taylor (2-16).

Luckett Seconds continued their good start with a 48-run success over visiting Saltash Seconds.

Luckett recovered from 106-6 to post 190-9 thanks to Gareth Clements (34) and Richard Seeley (22), that after opener Rob Piper had made a brisk 70.

Saltash lost wickets throughout and were dismissed for 142 with more than 10 overs unused as Joe Organ was left stranded on 64.

Clements (2-28) and Piper (3-34) shared the first five wickets before Martin Budge (2-39) and Ally Skeet (3-37) took out the lower order.

South Petherwin Seconds got their first victory after defending just 159 at their Ladock counterparts.

Skipper Richard Watson struck 11 fours in his 52, which was added to by Adrian Martin’s 22.

A fine bowling display led by Adam Howgill (3-36) and Watson (2-29) saw them to 18 points.

Kieren Welch continued his good start to senior cricket in Launceston Thirds’ home defeat by Tideford Seconds.

The left-armer took 4-38 as the visitors posted 255-7.

Launceston were dismissed for 157 in reply with Kevin Worth (60) and Paddy Webber (40) amongst the runs.

Tintagel Seconds had the weekend off due to a wedding.
