Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Three and Four East round-up – Saturday, June 13

SOUTH Petherwin’s bowlers got their batsmen out of jail at St Blazey Seconds to remain top of the Division Three table.

Having been sent in, Taylor Gerry (72) and Adrian Warne (33) laid the perfect platform at 77-1, however once they were separated they needed 17 from Adrian Clements to give themselves a sniff.

Chasing 158, Petherwin opened the bowling with veterans Kevin Horrell (4-23) and Paul Clements (0-9) who combined to leave the hosts at 51-5.

A 60-run stand between Lewis Todd and Simon Dixon looked to have turned the tide, however Adam Creasey (3-13) had other ideas as Blazey were eventually dismissed with 18 required.

St Minver had a day to forget at Saltash who ran out emphatic winners by 10 wickets.

The away side had recovered to 83-3 via South African Alex Scullard (44) and Charlie Edwards (18), but once the former was bowled by a pearler from Dave Bolland, they collapsed to 110 all out.

Saltash wasted no time knocking off the runs through Huw Williams (79no) and Jonny Wastell (23no).

In the league below, Launceston’s Matthew Bloomfield ripped through a depleted Tideford side with superb figures of 7-13 from 8.5 overs as the hosts were all out for just 63.

Skipper Finlay Worth (24no) and Dan Tilley (32no) knocked off the runs to go 19 points clear of third-placed Liskeard.

Lee Houghton’s rapid 82 propelled Werrington Thirds to a 96-run success at their Callington counterparts.

Sam Uglow (33), Henry Howson (30) and Dan Warring (24) provided the platform before Houghton’s 62-ball knock helped the visitors reach 259-9.

Freddie Ward and Tyler May struck early, and although Stephen Skews (28) and Nick Carpenter (35) rebuilt, Tom Petherick (3-36) and Marley May (3-22) ran through the rest.
