Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Six and Seven East round-up – Saturday, June 14
LUCKETT Seconds missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Bugle in Division Six East as they lost by six runs at Sandy Lane.
Luckett looked set to be chasing a score excess of 200 when the Clay country outfit reached 129-2,
but after Gareth Clements (3-36) broke the partnership, it was Martin Budge’s 6-28 that did much of the damage.
The visitors slipped to 81-5 despite Mike Clements (30) and Adam Piper (27) getting in, but after Dan Pearce made a quickfire 29, Luckett needed 17 with three wickets in-hand.
However, Stephen Brown (14) was lbw and from there the hosts held their nerve.
Bude Seconds remain fourth despite seeing their clash at their St Stephen counterparts cancelled, while South Petherwin Seconds produced a fine six-wicket success at St Austell Fourths.
In a 32-over game, the Saints were held to just 104-8.
Opening bowlers Ollie Peterson and James Cawsey took out dangermen Al George and Matt Ellison which allowed skipper Richard Watson (3-16 off 7) and Emma Barnes (2-18 off 5) to control the rest.
Cawsey then made a quickfire 49 as the chase was done and dusted in 19.4 overs.
Werrington Fourths enjoyed a ten-wicket victory over Roche Thirds at Ladycross.
George Petherick and Grace Kirby had two wickets each before Ben Sonley’s 5-18 dismissed the visitors for just 85.
Adam Paynter (41no) and Ian Wills (35no) knocked off the runs.
Tintagel Seconds remain top of Division Seven after easing past their Tideford counterparts by six wickets at Butts Field.
Freddie Knowles (3-16), the returning Frank Page (3-23) and Adam Wright (3-33) helped dismiss the visitors for just 107. Mark Luxton made 53 as the winning runs came in the 27th over.
Launceston Thirds’ home clash with their Lanhydrock counterparts was called off.
