RAIL enthusiasts will have the opportunity of a ride on a remote private line this Sunday (October 16).
Bob Lanaway, who has built the North Cornwall Miniature Railway together with an impressive toy museum, is opening up the site near St Teath for one afternoon, 12 to 5pm, in aid of the charity Cornwall Hospice Care.
Bob has two live steam locomotives and five diesels which can take people on 10-minute rides around the fields near his home. A visiting steam loco, Pendragon, may be coming down from Stoke-on-Trent to take part. He also has the largest toy museum in the south west, including a large number of vintage pedal cars as well as toys dating back to pre war days.
Admission and rides on the railway are free but visitors are asked to make a donation to the vital work of Cornwall Hospice Care.
The railway is at Coldnorthcott, St Teath, PL30 3LL and there will be off-road parking including disabled spaces. Teas and refreshments will be available.
