THE village hall at Tresmeer has had a facelift.
With the help of the community grant funding that was available to all community settings during the pandemic, and the committee’s own fundraising efforts over the years, the interior has had new ceilings and insulation throughout to bring it up to modern building standards.
Followed by new lighting and redecoration both inside and out the hall is now looking very smart indeed and ready for what will hopefully be an exciting post-COVID era providing a wonderful space to help bring new life back into the community.
To celebrate the new look hall and the easing of COVID restrictions just prior to Christmas the new committee welcomed two hugely talented local musicians — Barbara Griggs and Mike O’Connor — to entertain an appreciative audience with music and stories on a Christmas theme. This was the first event since the closure of the hall at the beginning of the pandemic so it was a very special occasion for everyone to get together again and all were delighted with the tales of Cornish mystery and mischief so eloquently spun by Barbara and Mike and sprinkled with beautiful music to lift the spirits.
Mulled wine and mince pies were enjoyed by all. The committee expressed their gratitude to Barbara and Mike for gifting their time and talents for this occasion.
The committee are planning to reintroduce a programme of community events and entertainments over the coming months.
Regretfully the quiz planned for January had to be postponed due to increased COVID concerns but the provisional calendar is as follows: February 19, bingo; February 27, Trambler’s Walking Group starts and will continue on every fourth weekend of the month; March 19, whist drive; April 23, bingo; May, date to be confirmed, Tractor Run; June 19, Car Treasure Hunt; August, date to be confirmed Fete/Dog Show/Produce Show.
