DARCIE Marley, 13, of Holsworthy, bravely had her head shaved on Monday, September 17, in aid of Cancer Research.

Darcie decided to have her head shaved because it is just over a year ago that her grandad Brian Tanner was taken far too soon on September 16, 2017 by cancer.

Darcie wanted to do this to raise money for the charity after losing her grandad as she was very close to him.

Darcie’s mother Rachael is very proud of what Darcie has done. She said: “Darcie who also is suffering from her own personal problems and undergoing treatment from various doctors at the moment has selflessly taken on this fundraising campaign regardless of her own issues and to me that makes me so proud of the person she has become today, because at the end of the day, what 13-year-old would take on such a big fundraiser like this?”

The family expressed its thanks to everyone who supported Darcie’s fundraiser and donated towards it. She raised £510 for Cancer Research UK.
