A LOCAL school was transformed into a singing competition this week as teachers got dressed up and took to the stage.
Students at Launceston College were treated to a show-stopping surprise as their teachers took to the stage in a special version of The Masked Singer.
The Masked Singer is a popular TV singing competition with a twist: celebrities perform well-known songs while wearing elaborate costumes and masks that completely hide their identity. The fun comes from both the performances and the mystery—judges and viewers try to guess who’s behind the mask based on clues given throughout the show.
The event saw students gather for a reward celebration with a twist—teachers performing in full costume while students played detective, trying to guess who was behind the masks.
With cheers of “Take it off!” echoing across the hall, the excitement peaked as Ms Tucker, disguised as SpongeBob, was revealed as the overall winner after delivering a powerful rendition of “You Got the Love.”

Other unforgettable performances included:
- Mr Lyle as the mysterious Unicorn
- Mrs Duckworth as the dazzling Daisy Doll
- Mr Stoppard as the lovable Dave the Minion
Mr Matthew Thompson, principal at Launceston College said: "This was such a fantastic way to bring our school community together and celebrate our students' efforts. The joy and energy in the room were incredible, and I’m so proud of the staff who were brave enough to step into the spotlight. It’s a reminder that school can be filled with fun and surprise—students are already buzzing about what’s coming next!"
