A NEW service offering support for those working in the farming industry in Holsworthy is providing an introductory session in June to those who might benefit from some assistance.

‘Accidental Counsellors’ is a service which aims to play its part in supporting healthy farming communities.

A spokesperson for the Farming Health Hub said: “Farming can be a lonely and stressful job. Are you a farmer, accountant, vet, land agent, feed supplier, or anyone who lends a listening ear to farmers?

“In your day-to-day work people may have opened up to you, and perhaps you find yourself providing more than just professional expertise. You might have stepped into the role of Accidental Counsellor.

“We all have a role to play in supporting healthy farming communities. The Holsworthy Farming Health Hub, which takes place at Holsworthy Livestock Market offers accessible training, and resources to empower you to respond in a helpful and appropriate way.”

The session introducing those to the service will take place at the Kivells Office, located at Holsworthy Livestock Market on Wednesday, June 17, between 2pm and 3.30pm. It can also be accessed virtually online, with bookings available by contacting [email protected]

The event will compliment other events taking place at the Farming Health Hub at Holsworthy Market taking place on every second Wednesday of each month in the café or on the forecourt.

On June 10, the Devon Stop Smoking service will hold a session aimed at encouraging those who smoke cigarettes to access help in order to help them stop, offering a range of free support.

July 8 will see Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis visit, with representatives from the charity on hand to provide advice.

Meanwhile, on August 12, there will be a visit from The Filo Project which offers small day care groups for people living with cognitive challenges relating to older age.
