PUPILS at Ashwater and Halwill Primary Schools had fun dressing up for Comic Relief but there was a more important message this year.
The schools are part of The Carey Federation, and its motto of ‘Take Care of Each Other’ — this was the main focus for the student’s learning on Comic Relief Day as they discovered where the money they were raising would be spent.
Mrs Ruh Alford, executive headteacher of Ashwater and Halwill Schools, said: “Children from Halwill and Ashwater Schools chose to dress as superheroes, wear non-uniform or paint on a red nose to raise money for Comic Relief. They had great fun but the most important part of the day was when the children learnt about the great causes that their money would be going to. ’Take Care of Each Other’ is part of the Carey Federation motto and days like Red Nose Day provide the opportunity for children to think about others.”
