DRIVERS in Stratton are expected to face delays as National Grid carries out urgent repairs.
Residents in Stratton were met with extensive roadworks on Bridge Street (A3072), seemingly with no warning.
Drivers in the area have described the works as ‘chaos’, with motorists being forced to seek alternative routes and causing congestion on the roads.
Works come after more than 1,100 homes were left without power last week following a high voltage fault among the National Grid’s network. Now, the organisation has stated that it is undertaking ‘urgent repairs’ to fix the fault which led to the outage.
The organisation has also explained that it expects works to take place until Friday, November 21.
A spokesperson from National Grid Electricity Distribution said: “We are carrying out urgent repairs to fix a fault on our high voltage network in Stratton, following a power cut affecting the area at the end of last week. This requires roadworks along Bridge Street which will last until Friday.”
Residents have been thanked for their patience while the work is being carried out.
The spokesperson continued: “A diversion is in place but we appreciate roadworks at any time can cause frustration, and thank people for their patience while this important work to secure electricity supplies is carried out.”
