TWO senior Army Cadets from Holsworthy have received progressive training certificates recognising their skills, leadership and commitment.

Cadet Serjeant Lydia Girdler (pictured), aged 17, completed the Army Cadet Syllabus (ACS) 3 Star challenge which included leadership and instruction, first aid, navigation, full bore shooting and culminated in a fieldcraft exercise and expedition on Dartmoor earlier in the year.

Cadet Staff Serjeant Alisha Squirrell (also pictured), also 17, completed the Advanced Drill weekend and First Aid at Work to fulfill the requirements of the ACS 4 Star requirements.

Both Cadet NCOs play an integral role in the running of the detachment acting as role models and instructors to their peers under adult guidance.

Detachment Commander Lt Jim Harvey added: “Both cadets have proven themselves reliable committed and willing to take up new training challenges. They set a good example to their peers through their excellent turn out and willingness to support others.”
