RESIDENTS are being invited to support one of the town’s most prized community assets after it featured on a hit national television show.

Groups of locals gathered by their TV screens this week after Bude Sea Pool, alongside a number of other local landmarks made an appearance on the BBC One show, Escape to the Country.

The much-loved facility was featured alongside a number of local swimmers. Jan Lathem, Lisa Bragg and Julia Dev proudly represented the pool on screen and highlighted the town’s strong sense of community spirit.

The community spirit shone even brighter as the local stars of the screen gathered to celebrate the moment alongside friends with a watch party, marking a particularly special moment for Julia, who spotted herself on television on her 60th birthday.

However, despite the excitement of the Sea Pool’s on-screen appearance, the facility is calling for the community’s support once more after its pool thermometer, an essential piece of equipment, broke.

The pool, which is free to use and maintained by local charity Friends of Bude Sea Pool, remains a vital asset for both residents and visitors, and as a result, the community’s backing is vital. As such, a fundraiser has been launched in an effort to get the thermometer back up and running, serving swimmers year-round once again.

A spokesperson for Bude Sea Pool said: “It was fantastic to see the Pool featured on national television and to share what makes it so special with a wider audience. We’re incredibly proud of our community and the volunteers and swimmers who bring the pool to life every day.

“We’re now asking for a little help to repair our thermometer, which plays an important role for our swimmers, particularly through the winter months.”
