MIKE Johns and Pete Lamborne from the Royal British Legion, went in to Holsworthy Community College’s assembly to speak to the students about how the RBL helps soldiers and their families.
Pete talked about how soldiers had died during some of the wars and Mike brought in medals to show. If you fought in the First World War you were automatically given three medals named: Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.
In the college there has been a Poppy Appeal box, selling various items and the college has been selling poppies.
By far the biggest seller was the rulers, which double up as ‘slap band’. The college expressed thanks to all those who have given generously to support a good cause, which the college supports every year.
