THREE former cadet NCOs from the Holsworthy detachment of the Army Cadet Force (ACF) have received praise for their continued service to the local community as young adults.

This praise was received during a recent visit by the commandment of Devon ACF Colonel Ashley Fulford.

Supporting local community events is actively encouraged within the ACF and former Holsworthy cadets have a good record of continuing this duty in their professional roles.

Adam Isaac now serves with the South Western Ambulance Service as an emergency care assistant whilst Matt South is training with the Devon and Cornwall constabulary to become a Police Special Constable. Summer is now training to be an adult instructor with Holsworthy ACF where she also acts as Duke of Edinburgh’s Award leader encouraging cadets to take on new personal challenges.

Other cadets have gone to serve as firefighters and nurses — all providing valuable services to the community. Also, some have gone on to serve their country as members of the Armed Forces.

Speaking during his recent visit to the detachment, Colonel Fulford said: “It has been fantastic to see young people who have been members of Devon ACF continue to develop into fine adults ready and willing to continue serving their communities.”

There are many opportunities through the ACF for young people from 12 years of age to have fun, make friends and develop new skills.
