PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works. Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities. Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Cornwall Council in North Cornwall and Torridge District Council in Torridge.

Amended licence

A LAUNCESTON based business which managed to overturn a decision to refuse an application to sell alcohol from its premises has submitted an application seeking a licence amendment.

Chings Alley Beer and Wine Cellar had initially applied for a licence to sell alcohol on or off of the premises at 3 Chings Alley, Launceston, PL15 7TD.

It is located in a narrow alleyway off of Southgate Street in the centre of Launceston and is a private footpath owned by the White Hart Hotel.

While the business was later granted a licence to sell alcohol for consumption off of the premises, the new application seeks amendments to that which would allow it to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises – a proposal which in its last iteration saw expressions of both objection and support.

The deadline to apply to make representations is April 23.

The public notice states: “I, Tammy Nutley give notice that I have applied to Cornwall Council as Licensing Authority for the variation of a Premises Licence in respect of Chings Alley Beer and Wine Cellar, 3 Chings Alley, Launceston Cornwall PL15 7TD.

“The application is for the sale of alcohol to consume on and off the premises.

“Any responsible authority or other person wishing to make representations to this application may do so by writing to the Licensing Team, Cornwall Council, New County Hall, Truro TR1 3AY or email [email protected] not later than April 23, 2026.”

Café seeks alcohol licence

Elsewhere, a café near Bude has also applied for a licence.

Widemouth Bay Café is seeking the granting of an alcohol licence for consumption on and off the premises, ancillary to food – meaning that it would allow it to serve alcohol with food served at the venue.

The deadline to apply to make representations is April 22.
