DEREK Lott has been elected 2016 president at the Woolsery Show annual meeting on January 16.

He has been familiar with the show all his life, latterly fullfilling the role of show director.

His great grandfather moved to Lane Barton Farm, Woolsery in 1920 where the family has been farming ever since.

Derek’s father was the chairman for 18 years until eight years ago, having taken over the role from Derek’s grandfather. His mother was on the handicraft committee for many years.

Derek took over the farm from his father 20 years ago and now has a number of holiday cottages from converting some of the buildings.

Derek and Angela were married in 1988 and their three children, Chloe, Hannah and Arron, are all regular attenders at the show.

The president’s chosen charities are Support of The Rural Worker and North Devon Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.

Also at the annual meeting, Bill and Susanne Harper presented a cheque for £1,500 to the Devon Air Ambulance, the proceeds from last year’s show when Bill was the president.
