A PLAY park in Launceston is set for a face lift after the contract to regenerate Priory Park has been awarded.

Following a public consultation, Launceston Town Council has announced the organisation set to rejuvenate the area with a variety of new equipment.

In August last year, residents were given the opportunity to have their say in the future of one of the town’s parks which was in need of some attention.

Launceston Town Council hosted the consultation after seeking to improve the site following the damage to some play equipment as a result of anti-social behaviour.

Properties manager for Launceston Town Council, Martin Cornish told the Post: “In 2022, Launceston Town Council had to take the difficult decision to remove damaged play equipment from Priory Park due in part to anti-social behaviour.”

As such, the decision was made to consult residents for their thoughts and opinions surrounding the park’s future.

Now, nearly 12 months on, the council has revealed that Proludic Ltd has been awarded the contract to carry out work to the park.

The organisation, which aims “to transform children’s play areas into social hubs that promote and enhance community life”, has worked on a number of projects, including one based at Wooda Farm Holiday Park in Bude.

The company’s plans for Priory Park include a gym area, inclusive play area and a junior play area, with the designs for the park to be displayed at Launceston Library from Tuesday, July 8 and on the town council stand at Launceston Show.

A spokesperson from Launceston Town Council said: “Talks are ongoing with Proludic, but we hope that the Park will be started around the beginning of September and will be completed, weather permitting, in around five weeks.

“We are very much looking forward to getting this area back up and running for the local community to enjoy.”
