WHILE many are still enjoying the remains of summer, a number of Launceston residents are beavering away to get ready for a staple autumn event.

Each year, one date is circled and underlined in the calendars of North Cornwall’s residents, a day which brings the community together and dazzles despite the greying October skies — Launceston Carnival.

The event transforms the town into a hive of fun and games, with an array of colour dancing through the streets, and though summer is not yet over, work is underway to prepare for this staple event.

This week, arguably the most important aspect was completed, the selection of the carnival royalty.

For 2025, Bella Heywood will be taking on the role of carnival queen, alongside her attendants Harper Hughes and Daisy Ann Neale.
