A BANKING hub is not set to open in Launceston for a year.

Following the ongoing closure of banks across North Cornwall, it was reported in last week’s Post that a banking hub would be coming to Launceston. However, despite the positive reaction to this announcement, it doesn’t look like it will be opening its doors for around 12 months.

Cash Access UK, the organisation responsible for the providing the hub service has announced that Launceston’s branch is expected to open in June 2026.

A spokesperson for Cash Access UK said “It's official - we're bringing a banking hub to Launceston! The new shared banking hub will bring cash and everyday banking services to your community, such as cash withdrawals, depositing cash and cheques and paying utility bills, as well as a community banker service, so you can speak to your own bank about more complicated matters on specific days.

“It takes around 12 months to open a banking hub so please keep an eye on our website for the latest information.”

It comes after it was revealed that the town would be losing its final bank as Natwest is set to close its doors in the near future (date to be confirmed) - but will remain open until the banking hub is ready.
