Holsworthy Memorial Hall was the venue last Sunday for the first of four Allsorts Craft Fayres to be held there this year. They give local craftsmen and women the chance to display and sell a wide variety of items of high quality. All were either handmade by the exhibitors or home produced. Three ladies from Woolsery, who regularly attend, are Diane Clifton, Jill Wade and Hazel Clifton who like to be known as the 'Knit Wits.' For the past four years they have been producing knitted woollen goods, mostly babies' and young children's coats and toys and selling them at similar events around the area to raise money for Children's Hospice Southwest. Each year the sum raised has more than doubled, from £300 in 2004 to £2,023 in 2008, for which they have received a Gold Award and a letter of thanks from hospice fundraiser Emma Puckey for their 'continued love and commitment.' Among the 25 or so other exhibitors was Barbara Reeder, also of Woolsery, attending for the first time. She was displaying her brightly coloured children's fleeces which go by the name of 'Moggies and Froggies' as well as saucy hand painted slates, soon to be available in the Holsworthy Information Centre. Other

newcomers were Glen Headland of Thornbury with her limited edition prints of flowers and photographer Paul Wright of Pyworthy with a selection of stunning photographs. The next craft fayre will be in the Memorial Hall on Sunday, June 7.
