A COFFEE morning was hosted by 14-year-old Jasmine Stevens at Sutcombe Village Hall on Saturday in aid of the Long House Appeal and Bristol Children's Hospital.

Holsworthy College student Jasmine, who organised the event as part of her bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, said: "I'm doing it for Bristol Children's Hospital because my brother spends a lot of time in there and for the Long House Appeal because it's local."

The Long House, next to Holsworthy Medical Centre, will provide a centre for hospice services closer to families in and around the area.

Around 150 people went along to the coffee morning, and Jasmine added: "It went really well and raised £900. I had a lucky dip, tombola, raffle and a cake stall.

"I want to thank everybody who helped in any way. I couldn't do it without the help of the local community."

Jasmine's mother, Tracey Stevens, said the car park was 'chocca' on Saturday, and added: "It's lovely to think people supported her."
