THE full program for the week of entertainment and events comprising the St Peter’s Fair week in Holsworthy has been confirmed by its organisers.
The organising committee have unveiled a packed schedule of events comprising the length and breadth of Holsworthy life as the community comes together for the centrepiece of its social calendar.
It seeks to combine the tradition of the week with an element of providing something for everyone with events for all different age groups and interests.
Saturday, July 4
1pm: Cricket in Stanhope Park with Holsworthy CC 2nd XL playing Pencarrow CC 1st XL
Sunday, July 5
9.30am: Sung Eucharist, a modern language service with hymns at St Peter’s and St Paul’s Parish church
10am: Cricket in Stanhope Park with Holsworthy CC under 13s playing Newton Tracey CC Under 13s
1pm: Cricket in Stanhope Park with Holsworthy CC Sunday 1st XL against Newton Tracey CC Sunday 1st
6pm: A civic service at the Parish Church – all are welcome.
7.30pm: Concert in the square by Holsworthy Town Band (weather permitting)
Monday, July 6
11am: Holsworthy Museum will be holding an exhibition of the history of St Peter’s Fair until 1pm in the Manor Car Park.
Tuesday, July 7
11am: Holsworthy Museum will be holding an exhibition of the history of St Peter’s Fair until 1pm in the Manor Car Park.
7.30pm: The meeting of the Court Leet, chaired by the Portreeve in all his finery. There will be petitions from its members in the Memorial Hall. Doors open at 7pm.
This will be followed by a procession from the Memorial Hall with the Town Crier, the Portreeve, members of the Court Leet to the ale houses of the town for the ceremonial ale tasting and the presentation of the ‘Fair Ivy’ to the landlords.
Wednesday, July 8
8am: The proclamation of the opening of the fair by the Town Crier on the site of the Old Great Tree of Holsworthy, followed by the bread weighing ceremony.
The portreeve will present certificates plus an invitation to the children’s breakfast to the children of primary school age who attended the proclamation.
8am: Charity Breakfast in the Memorial Hall from 8am, organised by Holsworthy Scouts.
10am: Holsworthy Methodist Church, in conjunction with Holsworthy Flower Club and local groups will hold a flower festival, titled ‘The joy of flowers in music’, to be opened by the retiring pretty maid. It will then be open from 10am until 12.30pm and 2pm to 6pm with coffee and tea being served from 10am until noon.
There will also be the St Peter’s Fair Sale comprising of the show and sale of store cattle, sheep and calves including the presentation of the Pretty Maid Cup to the vendor of the best overall calf at the cattle market.
11am: Holsworthy Museum will be holding an exhibition of the history of St Peter’s Fair until 1pm in the Manor Car Park.
There will also be street entertainment with the North Coast Joymakers on the High Street
12pm: The Pretty Maid ceremony at the Church of St Peter and St Paul will see the unveiling of the Pretty Maid for the upcoming year. Afterwards, the newly anointed Pretty Maid will officially open the funfair in Manor Car Park.
1.15pm: St Peter’s Fair Luncheon will be held in the Memorial Hall. Tickets are £16 and available from The White Hart.
6pm: The Pretty Maid’s Tea will be held in the Church of St Peter and St Paul.
7:30pm: The evening entertainment begins in The Square, with live music from Cover Charge and Two Day Hangover. There will also be a charity barbeque, a fair draw and exit collections to raise money for fair entertainment and Holsworthy Scouts.
Thursday, July 9
11am: Holsworthy Museum will be holding an exhibition of the history of St Peter’s Fair until 1pm in the Manor Car Park.
2pm: Holsworthy Methodist Church, in conjunction with Holsworthy Flower Club and local groups will hold a flower festival, titled ‘The joy of flowers in music. It will be open from 2pm until 5pm and 6.30pm until 8pm.
The judging of Holsworthy in Bloom competition will also take place – entry details can be obtained by contacting Holsworthy Town Council.
6pm: The fun fair at Manor Car Park will open.
7.30pm: The Furry Dance will start at the Memorial Hall entrance. Led by Holsworthy Town Band, The Portreeve, Members of HATS and local youth groups, people are invited to join them in the dance through the streets and pubs of Holsworthy, finishing in The Square.
8pm: Live music in The Square after the ending of the Furry Dance from Lionstar and The Crafty Butchers. There will also be a charity barbeque, a fair draw and exit collections to raise money for fair entertainment and Holsworthy Scouts.
Friday, July 10
11am: Holsworthy Museum will be holding an exhibition of the history of St Peter’s Fair until 1pm in the Manor Car Park.
2pm: Holsworthy Methodist Church, in conjunction with Holsworthy Flower Club and local groups will hold a flower festival, titled ‘The joy of flowers in music’. It will be open from 2pm until 5pm and 6.30pm until 8pm.
6pm: The funfair will open at Manor Car Park.
7:30pm: The evening entertainment begins in The Square, with live music from Kitty and the Kings plus Rock the 90’s. There will also be a charity barbeque by Holsworthy Lions, a fair draw and exit collections to raise money for fair entertainment and Holsworthy Scouts.
Saturday, July 11
10am: Holsworthy Methodist Church, in conjunction with Holsworthy Flower Club and local groups will hold a flower festival, titled ‘The joy of flowers in music. It will then be open from 10am until 12.30pm and 2pm to 6pm with coffee and tea being served from 10am until noon.
1pm: The fun fair will open in Manor Car Park.
1pm: Cricket at Stanhope Park with Holsworthy CC First XL vs Wadebridge CC 2nd XL
7pm: Family entertainment in The Square at 7pm with Ozzy D. This will be followed by the St Peter’s Fair Draw at approximately 9pm conducted by the Pretty Maid.
After there will be a live finale for 2026 from 9.30pm with a Michael Jackson Tribute Show. There will also be a barbeque by the members and friends of the St Peter’s Fair Entertainment Committee, and an exit collection for the fair entertainment and Holsworthy Scouts.
10.55pm: Firework finale.
Sunday, July 12
11am: An open air service in The Square led by Holsworthy and District Christians Together. Refreshments available, all welcome.
2pm: Holsworthy Methodist Church, in conjunction with Holsworthy Flower Club and local groups will hold a flower festival, titled ‘The joy of flowers in music. It will be open from 2pm until 4.30pm. Refreshments available.
