A CORNISH charity is seeking local businesses who want to make a difference within the community by offering work experiences to young people with Special Educational Needs.

Step Into Learning is a Launceston-based, independent training provider, offering courses designed to open up new opportunities, or career pathways, and is looking to team up with businesses and organisations in the local area.

Naomi West, employability and next steps lead for the charity, said: “Many young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are eager to gain valuable work experience that will help them build confidence, develop skills, and prepare for their future careers.”

The charity says that those offering a work experience placement will not only support a young person in gaining hands-on experience in the world of work, but will also inspire the next generation. It will help them discover their strengths, benefit from the enthusiasm, creativity, and unique perspectives young people with SEND bring, and demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, equality, and social responsibility.

Naomi continued: “We understand that every workplace is different, and we will work with you to ensure placements are tailored, supported, and beneficial for both the young person and your organisation.

“We’re delighted to share that several local businesses have already stepped forward to support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by offering work experience placements locally. Their generosity and commitment have made a real difference — helping young people build confidence, develop skills, and prepare for their futures.

“Every placement, no matter how small, makes a big impact. We’ll work alongside you to ensure the experience is supported and rewarding for everyone involved.”
