HEROES came to the rescue in Boscastle this week after a dog was stuck on the side of a 100-foot cliff in Boscastle.
Boscastle Coastguard were called into action on Monday, January 5, after a dog was spotted on a narrow cliff ledge at Trebarwith.
The dog, which had been reported missing the following day, was located by a member of the public. The dog was perched on a narrow cliff ledge around halfway down.
Due to the nature of the incident, Polzeath Coastguard were also tasked to support the Boscastle team.
A member of the team was took on the task of repelling down the cliff face in order to greet the stranded animal, which, despite the precarious situation, was uninjured.
Commenting on the incident, a spokesperson from Boscastle Coastguard Team said: “A qualified cliff technician was lowered to the dog, which was thankfully found to be uninjured—and very pleased to see the Coastguard team.”
With the dog found to be okay, the team undertook an assessment about how best to recover the animal safely.
Following the brief assessment, the dog was safely recovered and returned to the cliff top, where it was reunited with its very relieved and grateful owners.
With the animal safe and back with its family, the onlookers and the Coastguard team continue to be left questioning how the four-legged adventurer ended up in this position.
A spokesperson from Boscastle Coastguard Team continued: ‘The circumstances surrounding how the dog came to be in this situation are unknown.”
