TWO campsites in Bude have received top awards at a national competition.

Each year, Campsites.co.uk shines a light on some of the best staycation locations across the country as part of the annual Camping and Glamping Awards. Sites across the country battle it out for the top spots, however, this year, it was Bude which was in the spotlight after two sites secured top awards.

Both East Thorne and Wooda Farm Holiday Park received recognition as part of the competition.

The annual Camping and Glamping awards highlight the best camping, glamping, and touring sites across the UK, celebrating those sites which go above and beyond for their guests throughout the year.

The awards aim to celebrate a range of categories, from ‘Best Campsite’ and ‘Best Glamping Site’ to ‘Most Unique Stay’. Other titles include the ‘Greener Site Award’, ‘Best Newcomer' and 'Best Budget Friendly Campsite'.

In the South West, Bude shone as Wooda Farm Holiday Park took home the runner up in the ‘Best Family Campsite’ category for the region. On the Devon-Cornwall border, guests staying at Wooda Farm can enjoy an array of facilities, including an onsite coffee house, bar and kitchen at The Yard, a cocktail bar, tennis, a gym, play park, farm animals, farm tractor rides and more.

However, it was East Thorne which took home the gold, after the site was crowned the winner of ‘Best Glamping Site’ in the South West, and runner up for the National Best Glamping Site award.

A spokesperson for the awards explained: “Here, guests can enjoy a luxury stay with a private ensuite and fire pit. Open all year round, there's plenty to do onsite too. You'll enjoy a wood-fired clay oven for dinner alfresco, a climbing frame, and seasonal animal feeding, all perfect for family fun. There are beaches within a ten minute drive as well.

“The site has gained an impressive 4.83 star rating on their travel listing, with 100 per cent saying they would recommend the site. Guests continue to leave huge praise with comments including "I could not have asked for a better place to stay” and “A perfect romantic getaway for couples”.”

Martin Smith, the founder of Campsites.co.uk said "Our annual awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the UK's best campsites, and this year's standards feel higher than ever.
