A MUCH-loved Slimming World Consultant is celebrating a remarkable 20 years of helping Launceston residents transform their lives this month.
Kate Elston, who runs weekly Slimming World groups at Edymead Hall on Tower Street, has been described by her members as “the heart and soul” of the group, bringing warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to everything she does.
“This morning, we celebrated an incredible milestone,” said one member. “Kate has inspired us for two decades. Her kindness, calm presence, and contagious laughter make this place better just by being in it.”
Kate first joined Slimming World as a member herself and went on to lose more than three stone. That personal journey sparked her passion for helping others — and in 2005, she launched her first group in Launceston.
“I know first-hand how life-changing this can be,” she said. “Losing weight gave me back my confidence and energy, and I wanted to help others feel the same. It’s the best decision I ever made.”
Even after two decades, her passion is as strong as ever, she said: “I still absolutely love running my groups. Seeing members grow in confidence, reach their goals, and support each other week after week is the most rewarding part of the job. I never take it for granted.”
She credits Slimming World’s success to its unique and supportive approach. “I passionately believe in the ‘Food Optimising’ plan—it’s simple, satisfying, and really works. Combined with our activity programme and the power of group support, it creates lasting change.”
Kate’s Launceston groups meet every Thursday at Edymead Hall, Tower Street, at 8.30am, 10am, and 11,30am—and new members are always welcome.
“It’s a real community,” she added. “I feel so lucky to be part of it.”
