HATHERLEIGH Silver Band completed a hat-trick of West of England Regional Championship wins at The Riviera Centre in Torquay recently.

Competing in the 3rd section, for the first time for many years, following winning the 4th section for the previous two years, the band was placed 1st out of the 18 bands in the section, winning a pendant, shield, £200 and an invite to the national finals, held at Cheltenham Racecourse in September.

The win culminates an intensive rehearsal schedule for the band since the start of the year and results in promotion again to the 2nd section from 2019, the highest ranking that the band will have ever achieved during its long history.

Sales of the band’s recently released CD are off to a brisk start. The 18 track album entitled ‘Odyssey’ is available locally from shops in Hatherleigh or direct from the band’s CD marketing officer, Robin Wonnacott on 01837 810678, priced at £10 plus postage. The album featured on a host of BBC local radio stations on Sunday, March 18, on Sounds of Brass, the popular brass band programme, presented by Phillip Hunt.
