A LAW graduate from Holsworthy will be helping to improve water management and santiation during a ten-week volunteer trip to Nicaragua.

Emily Walter, 22, is taking part in the International Citizen Service (ICS), a programme sponsored by the UK Government. All her personal expenses are covered, but she needs to raise £800 for charity Raleigh International.

Emily said: "I signed up to the ICS programme as I really wanted to experience another culture and benefit from an entirely unique experience.

"I have travelled and worked in Europe and the United States before but I have never lived in a community that is not Westernised.

"I also chose this project because it is part-funded by the government so is open to all young people regardless of their qualifications and background."
