ON Wednesday, February 10, the canteen ladies laid on a fantastic Chinese Banquet for Holsworthy Community College staff and students to celebrate the Chinese new year — the Year of the Monkey, which started at the beginning of the week.

On the menu were: sweet and sour chicken balls, sticky lemon chicken, Chinese ribs, stir fry beef with ginger and peppers teriyaki style, Szechuan pork, vegetarian spring rolls, mixed vegetable noodles, Quorn dippers with sweet and sour dipping sauce, Cantonese Noodles, special fried rice, egg fried rice — all at the amazing price of £2 for two main dishes, rice or noodles. Those brave enough were able to eat their food with chopsticks.

Also available were prawn crackers for 50p and fortune cookies for 10p.

The canteen has been running this intiative for a few years and this year was as popular as ever.
