A SWATHE of burglaries have prompted a police investigation, with even war medals among the stolen goods.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that they are looking into several reports of burglaries to homes in Callington and the surrounding villages. The force says that since Saturday, September 19, it has received reports of four separate burglaries in Callington, and two in the St Ann’s Chapel area.
Thieves have made away with a number of items, including jewellery, cash and even in one case war medals — with ‘significant damage’ having been caused to some premises.
As a result of the incidents, the police have reminded residents to be mindful of their home security when departing their property. The force says that homeowners should leave as few clues as possible that their property is unoccupied.
A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police added: “If you have CCTV or a doorbell camera, please consider checking that they are in good working order and still recording footage to the media card or cloud storage.
“Please report any suspicious activity to Devon and Cornwall Police, via 999 if you believe you are witnessing a crime in progress, or via 101 or our website here quoting reference number 50260251873, if you have valuable information.”
