ALTHOUGH the majority of games further down the rugby union pyramid were played, Launceston’s home clash with Exmouth on Saturday was one of four postponed out of six in Regional One South West.

The cold temperatures meant large parts of Polson Bridge were frozen, giving the hosts little option but to call the game off.

However there was good news for the second team in Counties Cornwall Three as they ran in ten tries in a 66-0 thrashing of bottom side Redruth Albany, which included a hat-trick from Dale Johnson.

See this week’s Post for a report on that game, as well as the thoughts of first team joint head coach Ian Goldsmith on the call-off as they now look forward to their home clash with Weston-super-Mare this Saturday (3pm).

Bude’s two men’s teams were both in action, but both were left empty-handed.

The first team visited St Ives in Counties One Western West, and despite being the equal of the Hakes for long spells, eventually went down 21-10 with the Bude points coming through Will Hockridge’s try and five points from the boot of Olly Denford.

The seconds were at home in Counties Cornwall Three, and took an early lead through Ty O’Hagan against St Agnes.

However the visitors proved a bit too street-smart throughout, and eventually ran out 47-5 winners.
