LAUNCESTON College cook Vanessa Elcock raised £3,622 for Muscular Dystrophy at last month’s London Marathon.
Mrs Elcock who lives in Daws House with her husband Dave, ran the grueling 26.2-mile marathon in a very respectable time of 4:36:36.
Muscular Dystrophy is something close to her heart, her 32-year-old son Tristan suffers from the condition where muscles start to waste away as a result of mutations in the genes responsible for the structure and functioning on a person’s muscles.
Vanessa, who also has two other sons, Wayne and Andrew, was delighted with her achievements.
She said: “If you want to do something badly enough up then never give up.
“I’d also like to thank everyone for their support as the money raised was truly overwhelming.”
