HOLSWORTHY beat old rivals Bude Town 2-1 last night to progress into the second round of the Torridge Cup.

The Magpies trailed at the break at Upcott Field thanks to Harry Hopcroft’s screamer, but turned it around after the break thanks to Ollie Moores’ close range finish from a corner and Sam Jago’s fortunate cross that dropped in at the far post.

Seasiders’ player/manager Ben Potter had a glorious chance to equalise from the spot with 19 minutes to go following a foul on Billy Hopcroft, but the centre-half skied his effort well over the bar.

Holsworthy then held on relatively comfortably against their SWPL Premier West rivals to secure a tie at North Devon League Premier Division outfit Shamwickshire Rovers in the next round.
