Playing in her very first County Championships, Georgia Price took on the best lady golfers in the Cornwall at Trevose Golf Club.

The course was in excellent condition and from the outset and despite very inclimate weather, Georgia never put a foot wrong. She moved unchallenged into the top 16 after the first day’s play.

To reach the final Georgia recorded wins of 7&6, 8&7 and 6&4 to meet Emily Wilson from Truro in the 36 hole match-play final on Sunday, April 17.

With initial nerves overcome Georgia was 4 up by the half way point and went on to close out the match and to win the Championship Cup 8&6.

She also picked up the Judy Taylor Cup which was the best nett qualifier score for U23s with a nett 148 and the Challenge Cup which was the best qualifier score overall with a nett 148. In addition to all the trophies Georgia got her handicap cut to 1.0 from the qualifier.

Georgia, who is a member of Bude Golf Club, represented the club fantastically well.

Kay Dinsdale, from Bude Golf Club said: “Georgia is a lovely girl as was evident from all the home support she received during the four days at Trevose and the numbers there to see her to victory in the final.

“In her acceptance speech she thanked her parents for all their support in allowing her to play the game and then celebrated quietly at home with an Indian takeaway and an early night — well earned!

“Congratulations Georgia from everyone at Bude Golf Club, we are all extremely proud of you. You deserve this success.”
