The Mail on Sunday National Knockout Competition — February 13
THE first round of The Mail on Sunday took place on Saturday, February 13 at Holsworthy Golf Club — the Launceston Ladies were away to Holsworthy Ladies.
The match was played under some extremely wet ground conditions resulting in a close match draw at 2 1/2 to 2 1/2.
The deciding game was won on the 19th hole by Launceston who go on to the second round.
The club expressed thanks to Holsworthy Golf Club for their hospitality and their green staff.
Men’s Section
THE Launceston men’s team were also due to play on Saturday at Tavistock Golf Club, however due to the weather conditions the result of the match was decided by the old traditional method of a coin toss and Launceston won the tie.
