LAUNCESTON will look to move away from the lower echelons of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division tomorrow when they make the short trip to reigning champions Tavistock (3pm).

Although the Pennygillam outfit have been in poor form in the league, they do have games in-hand on everyone around them and advanced to the quarter-finals of the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Liskeard Athletic.

Tavistock, who have a wealth of attacking options at their disposal, including ex-Clarets Liam Prynn and Sam Davey, have dropped just ten points from their 20 matches.

They currently sit nine points behind league leaders Plymouth Argyle Reserves; but crucially have games in-hand.

Adam Chidzoy’s Callington Town return to league action for the first time since their 2-0 victory at Launceston on Boxing Day with a trip to sixth-placed Cullompton Rangers.

Callington have 17 points from their 22 games, with four victories and five draws. However their away form has been much stronger, with 13 of their points coming on their travels.

Improving Bude Town will be given a stern test of their recent revival when they make the lengthy trip to leaders Porthleven, in Division One (West) (3pm).

The Seasiders will need all of their battling qualities if they are to grab anything from Gala Parc, but a positive result will do wonders for the rest of the season.

Holsworthy have a week off following last weekend’s 2-1 victory at Bere Alston United.

North Petherwin will hope they don’t fall the same way of fellow Duchy Premier League side Boscastle when they make the long trip West, to take on Gwinear Church Town in the fourth-round of the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup.

Gwinear, which is situated just off the A30 before you get to Hayle, triumphed 4-3 in a controversial tie back in the autumn and the Trelawney Division Two outfit will be confident of advancing to the last eight against struggling Petherwin.

In the Duchy Premier League, Boscastle will instead make the long trip to Torpoint Athletic thirds, while there’s three Post area teams in action in Division One with St Breward hosting North Hill and second-placed Stoke Climsland entertaining AFC Bodmin.

Tintagel, Altarnun and St Minver Reserves are away from home in Division Two at Grampound, Lanivet Inn and Lifton respectively, while Southgate’s first league match of 2019 sees them welcome Liskeard Athletic thirds to the Launceston College playing fields in Duchy Three.

There’s another big game for leaders Bude Town Reserves in Duchy Four as they entertain Newmoor Rovers, while bottom club North Petherwin Reserves will look for successive victories, as they head to their St Cleer counterparts. There’s a derby of sorts at Week St Mary, as they entertain Lifton Reserves.

Boscastle Reserves and Delabole United will both have their work cut out to reach the third-round of the Shoe Boy Duchy League Cup.

Boscastle are at home to Division Two promotion hopefuls Lamerton Community, while Division Four title favourites Nanpean Rovers are the visitors to Delabole.

In the Mortgage Advice Bureau East Cornwall League, Launceston Reserves have a winnable game at home to basement side Looe Town in the Premier, while Callington Town Reserves are on the road at third-placed Polperro.

In Division One, the prolific Sam Hockin and Norman Foster will look to add to their near 40-goal tally between them, as top-of-the-table Morwenstow welcome St Stephen to the Morwenstow Playing Fields, while St Teath and St Minver are on the road at Padstow United and St Blazey respectively.

Up in the North Devon League, Bradworthy will look for back-to-back victories in the Premier Division when they face Braunton, while Shebbear United face fourth-bottom Fremington Reserves in the second-tier.

In-form Kilkhampton head to Merton while Holsworthy Reserves and Bridgerule entertain Combe Martin and High Bickington respectively in Intermediate One.

Morwenstow Reserves are the sole Post area club in action in Intermediate Two and are scheduled to entertain Braunton Thirds while in the bottom tier, Shebbear United Reserves travel to their Combe Martin counterparts and Ashwater go to Hartland Clovelly thirds.

Halwill’s two senior men’s sides are both in action in Division Two and Four of the Macron Devon and Exeter League.

The firsts travel to Whipton and Pinhoe while the reserves welcome St Martins seconds.
