FRIDAY night’s poor weather meant that for the first time this season, the weather had a major say over the local football scene.
Although all the games involving Post area teams in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League and RGB Cornwall Senior Cup went ahead, which saw excellent victories for Launceston and Camelford, the East Cornwall League, North Devon League, Macron Devon and Exeter League and JJ Jones and Sons Duchy League were all heavily affected.

Plymouth Marjon 2
Holsworthy 0
HOLSWORTHY’S striker crisis worsened on Saturday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth Marjon.
Having lost Harry Stevens who has joined Barnstaple Town and Dom Abbott, who was starting a four-match suspension following his sending-off against Sidmouth Town, the Magpies couldn’t afford to lose another striker, but unfortunately in the first-half of Saturday’s fixture, the in-form Joe Barker was taken to hospital with ankle ligament damage meaning Liam Dart’s men had picked up their fourth injury in three seasons on the 3G pitch.
Holsworthy went a goal down on 25 minutes when Jacob Cameron capitalised on goalkeeper Ryan Chadwick’s unfortunate slip on the surface to poke the ball home.
The game was fairly even. Scott Percy went close from range before Barker went through on goal only to collide with the goalkeeper where his foot got stuck in the surface, resulting in a serious injury.
In the second-half it was all Holsworthy as Lee Gardiner, Scott Percy and Oliie Kenneally forced Liam Hooks into saves.
Chadwick made a fine save when Marjon counter-attacked for a rare furry out of their own half, before Cameron added Marjon’s second right at the end of game.

Launceston 4
Sticker 1
LAUNCESTON bounced back from their recent struggles with an ultimately convincing Cornwall Senior Cup win over Sticker at Pennygillam on Saturday, although the game remained in the balance until the closing stages.
The Clarets were lifted by the return of Liam Tilley, making his first appearance for six months. He slotted seamlessly into the back four.
A quiet first-half burst into life in the final minutes. Dan Metherell was fouled inside the area, earning the Clarets a clear penalty. Unfortunately Mike Steele’s spot-kick soared over the crossbar to register the club’s fourth consecutive penalty miss.
But less than a minute later, Jordan Hogan’s excellent cross was headed firmly home by Jordan Walton to give Mike Walton’s men the lead.
Steele hit the post with a deflected shot but Sticker, with Jack Hooper a constant threat, equalised in the 65th minute when Bailey Smith rammed home a loose ball. Before the visitors could build on their goal, however, Launceston regained the lead.
Callum Watson appeared to get the final touch to a Jordan Hogan cross and his effort squeezed past visiting keeper Ethan Elwell.
Both sides missed chances with the game still delicately poised, but two very late goals, a neat Rhys Walton shot and a Jordan Hogan effort following a 30-yard run, gave the Clarets a slightly flattering but much needed win.
Launceston resume their quest for league points on Saturday when they visit Mount Wise to face mid-table Newquay (3pm).
Newquay 1
Camelford 2
FIRST-HALF goals from Harry Wilshaw and Mike Kempthorne put the Camels into the third-round at the expense of their Premier Division rivals at Mount Wise.
Once more the Camels had a threadbare squad to choose from but played exceptionally well to go through.
Reg Hambly’s side started the brighter and took the lead after 20 minutes as Ryan Pooley played in Wilshaw, who drove the ball across Dan Peters and into the far corner from 18 yards.
Pooley forced Peters into a brilliant save from 25 yards before the Peppermints equalised ten minutes before the break as Craig Ainsley powered in a header at the far post from a corner.
However Camelford went into interval ahead as a good run and pass from Jordan West found Kempthorne who slotted home from ten yards.
Newquay responded well in the second-half, forcing Adam Sleep and Tom Cowling to defend well to keep them at bay while young goalkeeper Luke Gwillam showed his worth, making three excellent saves from point-blank range.
The pressure was almost relentless and Newquay, who had won 3-2 in their league clash in October, thought they had equalised in the dying stages through skipper Jack Bray-Evans.However midfielder Josh Insley had stationed himself on the line and cleared the ball away to secure their passage into the last 16.
Porthleven 1
Callington Town 0
MATT Fox scored a brilliant volley to dump Callington out of the Senior Cup at Division One (West) side Porthleven on Saturday.
The Port dominated much of the game and missed a number of chances as well as forcing visiting goalkeeper Sam Borthwick into a number of fine saves.
Callington hoped to bounce back at Bodmin Town in the league last night before entertaining Torpoint Athletic on Saturday (3pm).
Wendron United (HWO)
Bude Town
THE Seasiders failed to raise a side for their Cornwall Senior Cup tie at Wendron United on Saturday.
Explaining the decision, outgoing manager Ryan Leverton, who is stepping down due to not being able to devote the time needed for the job, said: “We had seven of the starting 11 from the week before unavailable through work or injury and only had eight fit players with others away, so the only option was to forfeit the tie.”

DAN Tilley missed a late chance from two yards out as the Clarets nearly pulled off the comeback of the season.
The home side were 5-0 up at half-time with Launceston just hoping to keep the score down.
However Marius Pislaru started the comeback before Mark Elvidge (2) and Connor Burtonwood made it 5-4.
Although Henry Bunning put United 6-4 up, debutant Elvidge added a third to set up a grandstand finish.
