CALLINGTON Town have appointed Matt Hayden as their new manager for their South West Peninsula League side for next season.

Hayden enjoyed a decent playing career with Mount Gould, Ernesettle, Elburton Villa and St Blazey before a three-year spell as manager at the Cornish club.

“This is a great opportunity for me to further my managerial experience. Whilst I know it is a tough task ahead, I am really looking forward to what the future holds and cannot wait to get started,” said Hayden.

Town chairman Steve Blatchford was also excited about the upcoming campaign.

Having had two consecutive seasons curtailed by the pandemic, things are finally looking like they may be returning to some form of normality and we as a club are very pleased that Matt is joining us and have set a realistic ambition for the forthcoming season,” he said.
