Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East round-up – Saturday, May 24

RYAN Pooley struck 134 as early leaders Tintagel thrashed Launceston by 227 runs at Butts Field.

After being sent in, the runs came from the start via Tom Parsons (79), Matt Jolliffe (21) and Jordan Burnard (36), but it was Pooley’s 69-ball knock which contained 23 fours and four sixes that saw them post a whopping 370-9.

Finlay Worth kept up his wicket-taking form with seven, although he went for 115 in the process.

Launceston skipper Darren Jenkin promoted himself to open and made 15, but he was already out with the score at 20-5 as Aussie Jack Minehan (2-28) and Vedavyas Chowdare (2-34) ran riot.

Jordan Blanchard (2-28) then controlled the middle overs as the visitors slipped to 95-9 despite some resistance from James Dawe (27) and Pete West (18) which was added to by a last wicket partnership of 48 between debutants Will Mansfield (12no) and Ryan Vanstone (32).

South Petherwin failed on the chase for the second straight week as Menheniot-Looe left Kennards House with a 54-run victory.

Petherwin’s bowlers did a fine job to restrict Menheniot to 204-5 with Paul Clements (1-27) and Kev Horrell (1-23) proving tough to get away, while Adam Creasey (2-41) got some reward.

Petherwin were well-placed with opener James Weeks (31) and number three Andrew Brenton (41) at the crease, but they then collapsed to 150 all-out with Pete Nance taking 5-24 and Steve Kidd 3-26. Paul Clements was 29 not out.

Callington Thirds were emphatically beaten by eight wickets by visiting Ladock.

Liam Hunn made an enterprising 53 from 42 balls, but nobody else made more than Lee Hazeldine’s 15 as they were all-out for just 144.

The visitors were at the winning post after 28 overs despite a wicket apiece for Martin Hunn and Harvey Poad.
