A woman was taken to hospital overnight having sustained suspected knife wounds.
The ambulance service was called to a property in the Marhamchurch area of Bude shortly after 1 am today (July 18).
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed: "A woman in her 40s remains in hospital with multiple serious injuries to her chest and neck. She is currently in stable condition.
"A 39-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody at this time.
"A scene guard remains in place and enquiries are ongoing."
